Exhibition by Robert Mittringer
Werkstoff. Inspiration. Botschaft. (material. inspiration. message.)
Exhibition: 27.1.2012 – 9.3.2012
Robert Mittringer re-stages ordinary, used materials like corrugated cardboard, wood and brick as self-articulating materials and leaves them originally at the same moment. His central message is always the commitment to his love for mother earth and the preciousness of life.
The surface of the artworks, which are often installed in interrelating pairs or groups, is refined with soil, brick-dust and ash. Robert Mittringer uses the chromaticity and haptic of these used materials systematically. Occasionally the sculptor molds the ephemeral cardboard sculptures in metal, makes them durable, resistent for eternity. The objects are signed strikingly to move the base material “waste“ to the appropriate significance. Thus the signature itself becomes the essential message. Therefor Robert Mittringer preferably abstains from a titel to not contain the associations and fantasies of the viewers.
Robert Mittringer, co-founder of the artist collectives “Donauhunde“ and “K5“, and member of the artist group MAERZ, was awarded the “Kunstwürdigungspreis“ of the City of Linz and the “Oberösterreichischer Landeskulturpreis“ of Upper Austria. His artworks enrich national and international collections (amongst others Graphische Sammlung Albertina, Vienna/A; LENTOS Kunstmuseum, Linz/A; Oberösterreichisches Landesmuseum, Linz/A; Stadt Linz/A; Land Oberösterreich/A; Stadt Wien/A; Bundesministerium für Unterricht und Kunst/A; Staatsgalerie Stuttgart/GER; Museo Casa Bianca, Malo/I).
