Art strives for freedom.
Marie-France Goerens and Eduardo Vega de Seoane both overcome conventions with playful effortlessness, but in very different ways.
Eduardo Vega de Seoane paints carefree non-representational canvases to jazz rhythms. His compositions of interwoven shapes and linear, glyph-like abbreviations seem to disregard every kind of limitation of format, every kind of boundary, with an airy lightness. There is nonetheless an inherent order within this natural ease: like the overture which binds together the diffuse pattern of buoyant freedom.
Marie-France Goerens shatters, cuts up, tears apart messages, well-trodden paths, in order to form new connections between them, in order to open up new spaces. Line is the object with which she plays, with which she makes the invisible visible. In doing so Marie-France Goerens crosses thresholds from within to without and then back again. This concept accordingly permits no concept. Turbulence emerges within abundance; the beginning of the new finds its source in chaos.
